We are delighted to welcome former British Aerospace Aeronautical and Principal Concepts Engineer George Seyfang, who will talk about his role in Richard Jenkins' successful attempt in 2009 to break the land yacht world speed record in 'Greenbird', setting a new high of 126mph, powered only by the wind.
George was closely involved with the development of the highly innovative, aerodynamically-controlled 'wingsail' which drives both Greenbird and its water-based cousin 'Saildrone' and his talk will outline the application of wingsails to both, along with his work on some of his other, 'nautical projects'.
With George's 42-year career at BAE Warton working on major projects such as Nimrod and Concorde along with his impressive portfolio of patents, this promises to be a really intriguing evening for anyone looking to sail faster than the wind!
Open to all Members and their Guests
Bar open from 7.30pm
